Claudia Jones – Mother of the Carnival

Millions flock to the West London area of Notting Hill every August Bank Holiday to celebrate Europe’s biggest street party: Notting Hill carnival. But not many know WHY this party was started and more importantly, who was behind this great idea. A Black woman of Trinidanian descent started this party.

This is the story of Claudia Jones Mother of the Carnival.
