The podcast world is booming, the market is also growing rapidly in Austria. Fjum_forum journalismus und medien (fjum) has now reacted to this and has launched its own podcast institute. From March 2021, the Podcast Institute will offer prospective and established podcasters a wide range of advanced training courses in the areas of podcast conception, production and marketing in order to meet the needs of this rapidly growing scene at all levels.
The new foundation of the Podcast Institute is supported by fjum_forum journalismus und medien, which has been active in the journalistic training of podcasters for years. The content orientation is taken over by the editor of the industry medium podcastwelt.at, founded in 2020, Tatjana Lukáš: “With the Podcast Institute we want to attract both newcomers and offer established podcasters the opportunity for extensive further development”.
The four-day basic course of the Podcast Institute in March 2021 gives insights into the potential and the future of digital audio products and provides an overview of the international podcast market. In addition, the participants develop a first prototype, learn the basics of podcast production (recording, editing, sound framing, distribution) and are taught marketing basics and monetization strategies for audio content.
In addition to the basic course, international speakers from the field of podcasts will provide special webinars in 2021 for an international transfer of knowledge and experience and for new audio inspiration.
According to the Reuters Digital News Report 2020, around 30 percent of Austrians currently consume podcasts. “The audio boom is only just beginning,” fjum managing director Simon Kravagna is convinced. “With the Podcast Institute we will accompany journalists and the media with their podcast products and offer an inspiring platform for exchange and international networking.”
